There are over two hundred journals (in English) that are published in India and the subcontinent, in a range of academic disciplines. Many of these now have online versions.

There really is an Open World out there: a huge range of Open Access journals... in all manner of subjects. A comprehensive listing of these is maintained by the University of Lund, Sweden, DOAJ, the Directory of Open Access Journals. Very recently Informatics, Bangalore has launched Open J-gate, a portal for the efficient exploration and management of these journals: there are over 3000 open access journals available now via Open J-gate!
